Welcome Back!
We are super excited about our return to school. It is going to be a great year. This year our focus at Hilsman will be “Moving Forward with the End in Mind”. Often teachers and students are unable to celebrate the progress made until the end of the year. We will begin this year celebrating the success that we KNOW we will have at the end of the year. Together, we will guarantee success by deliberately working to communicate effectively, continuing to build a strong positive school culture, engaging our community, and keeping the children as our number one priority.
We had a few changes over the summer with staff members. Please help me welcome the following new teachers:

We are excited to welcome them to our Panther Pride and they are definitely a great addition to the team. You will have an opportunity to meet them during 6th Grade Transition Camp and at Hilfest.
The Rising 6 Grade Transition Camp will be held on August 2nd from 8:00 am-1 pm. This will be an opportunity for 6th graders to become acclimated with Hilsman as well as their teachers. Although we love our parents, we ask that you allow us this time with the students as we will address all of your questions during your orientation time at Hilfest. Be sure to register using the link shared. We will have a special surprise for those that registered using the link.
Hilfest will take place on Saturday, August 5th from 9:00 am-1:00 pm. This is our Open House! Please come out and enjoy members of our community and meet the staff of Hilsman. Food, vendors, and fun will be located on Hilsman’s back field. There will be an hour allotted for parents to meet with their teachers as well as review preliminary student schedules. Homeroom lists will be posted throughout the building to assist with locating your child’s homeroom. We are looking forward to seeing all of our families.
The uniform policy and supply list are located on our official school’s website. It was brought to my attention that the supply list was not correct. As a result, I shared the corrected version via email. The website should reflect the change no later than Monday. If there are any concerns related to one’s ability to purchase any of the items, please contact Mrs. Griffith, Mrs. Callahan, or Mrs. Moore. You are also welcome to contact Ms. Tolbert. We will work with any family that needs assistance.
I want to reiterate our excitement to welcome our students and families back to school. 2017-2018 will be filled with many opportunities for our students to soar higher. We welcome you to a new year! Let us all Move Forward with a GREAT end in mind. See you all soon.
