Week of 3/27/2017

Quote of the Week:

“Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.”
James Baldwin
Greetings,

This week was extremely busy but we made it! Thank you to all that participated in Parent Teacher Conferences. Our goal is 100% and we are really close. I encourage you to schedule your conference so that you can be in the know about your child's progress. There is also important information being shared regarding the promotion/retention policy. Again, we want to always keep you abreast of changes made that impacts your child's education.

I also want to ask that you please ensure that your child is in the proper uniform. We are late in the school year but our uniform policy has not changed. Students are arriving with no collar shirts and the wrong pants. It is important that students follow the uniform policy. Consequences are being given to students. Please help us by taking a peek at them before they leave for school. We are looking forward to granting some uniform free days soon.

The Dunk Show was amazing! The students were actively engaged and enjoyed the performance. Thank you to all of the parents and students that participated in the cookie dough fundraiser.

Ms. Tolbert

Announcements:

This Saturday, Saturday School will be held on the campus of UGA. We will participate in the first Annual MESA Math Fair. During this time, students will be engaged in hands on math activities centered around the standards. Buses will pick up students at their normal stops and transport students to UGA's Aderhold Hall. The address is 100 Carlton Street, Athens, GA 30602. If your child is a car rider, they will need to be transported to this location and picked up at noon. Hilsman teachers will NOT be present at Hilsman. ALL teachers and students will be at UGA. We are excited about this event and look forward to working with UGA to build students' belief and knowledge in mathematics . If you have any questions, please contact Ms.Ward.

This applies to all students.

Due to an error in communication Knox Huff was not recognized for his hard work in the Social Studies Fair. Knox received a formal apology from the coordinator, however, I want to publicly apologize to Knox and his parents.

Please help me Congratulate Knox Huff whose SS Fair project won a first place in the GA Regional Social Studies Fair held in Gainesville earlier this month. We are very proud of his hard work.
