First Day Memo

August 6, 2018

Evening Panther Nation!

The moment that you all have been waiting for is finally here! The FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL! We share your excitement as we anxiously await the arrival of our students to Hilsman 2.0 tomorrow. We have prepared well and are committed to providing an excellent education to your child. As you are preparing your child for their return, I wanted to take a moment and simply say thank you for trusting us with your child for the next 180 days. Although we are in a different location we have the same expectations. We want for all of our students to soar academically and strive to be better everyday. I welcome you to join us as we embrace our district’s mission as our own school’s mission.  It states, The Clarke County School District (Hilsman Middle School)  is an ambitious community of learners in a diverse and culturally rich county. We are committed to equity and excellence by the implementation of rigorous standards-based instruction in a safe and supportive environment - on every campus, in every classroom and for every child. We are a village and it takes a village to have a successful school. Let us all commit to putting our students first in all that we do!

Tomorrow will be the first day of a great year! Admittedly, we are all anxious. Allow me to reassure you that it is well! Your child will be well, we are well, and you will be well! I respectfully ask that you have a little extra patience with us tomorrow as we perfect our arrival and dismissal procedures. Remember that all car riders will enter at the front of the building. Buses will enter using Civitan Club Drive. We will have staff on duty to help direct the traffic as well as to answer your questions. Please be sure to communicate to your child how they will be getting home from school. We want every child to arrive home safely and avoid any stress about transportation.

Students will receive and follow their schedules tomorrow. If there are any concerns or questions, please contact Mrs. Robin Brinkley at 706-546-7721. Be on the lookout for important paperwork this week. I will send reminders out this week along with pictures throughout the day of your scholars working to become better everyday! See you all in the morning!

In partnership with you,

Principal Tolbert
